The significant resurgence in Bitcoin (BTC) and specific alternative cryptocurrencies indicates that bullish sentiment continues to prevail, with investors consistently showing interest in purchasing these assets at reduced prices. Traders generally have a solid aversion to uncertainty, so the recent resolution between Binance, Changpeng “CZ” Zhao, and the United States Department of Justice will likely foster a positive outlook for the cryptocurrency market. Most analysts have expressed optimism regarding this development, although a minority have voiced caution, citing the ongoing lawsuit by the Securities and Exchange Commission against Binance. On November 21st, Bitcoin and various major alternative cryptocurrencies experienced a substantial decline in value following the Binance-related news. However, it appears traders swiftly intervened after the initial knee-jerk reaction, taking advantage of the lower prices. Following this initial rebound, the bullish momentu...

Changpeng Zhao’s journey: from McDonald’s to crypto magnate

Image
Discover how Changpeng Zhao’s unique path took him from McDonald’s to the pinnacle of the crypto world, redefining success in the digital age. What can a poor emigrant whose father became a victim of political persecution achieve? The kid who had to cook burgers at McDonald’s and refuel cars at night? In reality, he may well turn out to be one of the richest people in Asia and the crypto industry. Early years Changpeng Zhao (CZ) was born in 1977 in the Chinese province of Jiangsu. His father worked as a professor, but due to his pro-bourgeois views, he was expelled from the country shortly after his son’s birth. Zhao lived in China until he was 12 years old, then emigrated to Canada with his mother and sister. To obtain visas, they waited three days in line at the embassy entrance. The family settled in Vancouver, where the father already lived. Despite the difficulties associated with emigration, Zhao claims that the move opened up “limitless opportunities...

Did Binance's CZ predict his own downfall?

An exclusive interview with Cointelegraph in 2018 highlighted growing scrutiny of Binance's meteoric growth. Fiv years ago, you couldn’t trade with fiat currency on Binance, yet the exchange was already garnering international attention with the highest trading volumes among its peers. That's no mean feat in the cryptocurrency industry, even in 2018, with several well-established exchanges commanding established and loyal user bases. Critics questioned why the world needed another exchange, but Changpeng "CZ” Zhao would not be deterred. In June 2018, I jumped onto a virtual call with ‘CZ’ for a one-on-one interview to discuss the meteoric growth of the global exchange. At the time, Binance only supported crypto-to-crypto trading, but a 50% fee discount facilitated by its native BNB token had been a major drawcard for savvy traders. Things are drastically different half a decade later. Binance has agreed to a $4.3 settlement with the United States government over civil re...

Crypto pundit Polynya takes aim at ‘cripplingly bad’ monolithic blockchains

A post by Crypto commentator Polynya went viral after alleging pointless and toxic competition between monolithic blockchain communities. With over 340,000 views on X (formerly Twitter), the post calls out hyperfocus on infrastructure while neglecting real-world use. Polynya even took a swipe at supporters — renaming them “bagholders” — of any particular monolithic blockchain’s token: BTC, ETH, ADA, SOL, TRX, AVAX, LTC, BCH, XLM, BSV, XMR, etc. Polynya didn’t focus the critique on any particular protocol. The post calls competition between blockchains a disgrace, saying that most developers should abandon “cripplingly bad” monolithic blockchains entirely. Polynya was once a popular member of various Crypto communities and had amassed some 90,000 followers on X before going on hiatus on June 2 . The unexpected return to commentary attracted attention, mostly because of the blog post’s indiscriminate and emotionally charged rant against all blockchain s. Polyn...
